Information processed automatically
The web server may record technical information needed to operate and secure the service, including the requested address, date and time, IP address, browser identifier, response status and diagnostic error reference. These logs are used to detect failures and abuse.
No public user accounts
The current public catalogue does not require registration and does not create public user profiles.
Browser storage
The comparison tool stores selected devices and display preferences in the browser so that a comparison can be continued after another page is opened. This information remains on the visitor’s device unless it is cleared.
Catalogue correction reports
When a visitor reports an incorrect specification, broken manual or image problem, the service stores the selected device, report category, message, optional contact email, submission time and a daily session hash. The report records do not contain the visitor’s raw IP address. Reports are retained for review and can be deleted after the issue has been resolved.
Abuse prevention
Login, correction reports and manual downloads use server-side rate limits. The counters contain request times and a keyed hash derived from the connection IP address, rather than the raw address. They persist across browser sessions. Expired counter entries are removed during later limiter checks. The web-server logs described above are separate.
YouTube videos
Some device pages offer videos hosted by YouTube. The embedded player is loaded only after you select “Load YouTube video”. Loading it connects your browser to YouTube and can disclose technical information such as your IP address and browser details. The player uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain, which limits personalization but does not prevent every transfer of data or the display of non-personalized ads inside the player.
You can instead use the ordinary “Watch on YouTube” link. YouTube’s own privacy terms apply when you use its service: Google privacy policy.
External manual files
Manual download buttons use a signed internal address. In the default proxy mode, Manual User Guide retrieves the PDF from an approved source and streams it to the browser without exposing the source URL. The source provider still receives a server-to-server request from our hosting environment.
